The EHiNA (Erreminten Higaduraren Neurketa Adimentsua) project, developed by IMH Campus in collaboration with INDUSTRIAS MAIL, S.A., has started its validation phase as part of the π—”π—œ-π—₯π—˜π——π—šπ—œπ—’ 𝟱.𝟬 programme, funded by the European Union.

This innovative smart tool wear measurement system is based on artificial intelligence at the edge to optimise the performance of cutting tools.

EHiNA enables real-time monitoring of tool wear by means of vibration and energy consumption sensors.

Thanks to its integration with an edge-cloud system, the collected data is processed at the edge and synchronised with the cloud to continuously improve AI models.

🟒 Impact and benefits:

πŸ‘‰ Reduced tool wastage: Enables tool usage to be extended to 90% of its useful life.
πŸ‘‰ Cost optimisation: Reduces premature tool changes and minimises material waste.
πŸ‘‰ Increased production efficiency: Reduces machine downtime and improves the quality of manufactured parts.
πŸ‘‰ Digital transformation: Brings industry closer to the Industry50 paradigm, combining AI with human expertise.
