FIRE EVO COMPANY project wins the IMH 2024 Award for the best industrial entrepreneurial idea
On December 12, students from IMH Campus received the 2024 Industrial Entrepreneurial Idea Award during the 5th edition of the Entrepreneurship, Talent and Industry Forum, organized by IMH Campus and UPTEK with the collaboration of the City Council of Elgoibar and the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa.
The event organized at the Herriko Antzokia in Elgoibar brought together more than 300 students: maintenance vet and additive manufacturing specialization vet students from the IMH, 1st year high school students from Elgoibar Institutua and 4th year secondary students from Elgoibar Ikastola.
The winning project was FIRE EVO COMPANY , formed by students of the Degree in Innovation Engineering of the School of Dual Engineering: Xuepeng Hu, Xabier Toribio and Qiming Wang. The prize consisted of Txankakua vouchers worth 300 euros donated by the City Council of Elgoibar for use in stores in Elgoibar, and congratulations!
FIRE EVO COMPANY:
The electromagnetic heating head for FDM 3D printing technology.
FIRE EVO COMPANY is working on an improvement for FDM 3D printers, those machines that create cool shapes layer by layer with plastic. Normally, these printers use a “traditional” heating system that works like when you heat up a toaster at home. But this team has designed an advanced system that heats using a technology called electromagnetic induction (a more efficient way to generate heat).
Imagine a “head” (the part of the printer that melts the plastic) that heats up faster and more precisely. This not only saves energy, but also helps the printer perform better.
In addition, they have added a special technology that very precisely measures the distance between the nozzle (the part that deposits the plastic) and the print bed. This ensures that the plastic layers are perfectly positioned, making the parts more detailed and of better quality.
It's like going from a “normal” printer to a much smarter and more efficient version. 🚀 Imagine all that can be created with this upgrade!
After the presentation of the project, we moved on to the round table focused on the manufacturing technologies of the future, specifically Additive Manufacturing. For this we have had four guests who have shared their experience and vision: Xabier Cearsolo, head of Additive Manufacturing at IMH, Naiara Zubizarreta, director of Addimat and Stech of AFM Cluster, Loreto Alcibar, former student of university specialization in Additive Manufacturing at IMH and currently design engineer at ADDIMEN, and Jaime Herrero, former student of Innovation Engineering at IMH and currently responsible for technologies and materials in MAUSA 3D.
Aware of the difficulty involved in carrying out an industrial idea, at IMH Campus we have been working for 12 years in the promotion and materialization of young industrial ideas. In this journey we have been accompanied by several industrial companies and the City Council of Elgoibar and the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa.
Since 2019 IMH Campus and UPTEK, the association of technology-based companies and startups of AFMCluster, we have joined in this strategy and in this line we organize meetings on the subject to give strength to youth industrial entrepreneurship.
